BMI: Time to Measure Up

The BMI or Body Mass Index is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. While it does not measure body fat directly, research has shown it is correlated.

It is a good assessment of overweight and obesity, which can be done in the comfort of your own home. However it is not a diagnostic and you should consult your physician should you have a concern.

How to measure your BMI:

  1. Enter your height and weight below in cm and kilos (use conversion formula below)
  2. Enter age and sex
  3. Select your activity factor

 

Example:

  • Weight = 68 kg = 149.91 lbs.
  • Height = 165 cm (1.65 m) = 64,96 in. = 5 ft. 5 in.
    Calculation: 68 ÷ (1.65)2 = 24.98
